Mariah Carey’s estranged sister, Alison, was on hospice care before dying on the same day as their mom
Alison Carey’s friend is giving insight into the last days of her life.
Dave Baker revealed Monday that the 63-year-old estranged sister of Mariah Carey “was on home hospice care for the last three weeks” due to a “problem with [her] internal organs.”
He told the US Sun that Alison was a “highly intelligent, warm and sensitive person” despite her “tough exterior.”
Baker added, “I have known her for nine years, and as her friend — and in recent months, her carer — I will miss her greatly. Farewell, Alison. May you now find peace, your tortured soul forever free from earthly pain.”
He also told the Times Union that he “knew [the end] was coming” since “there were signs that she couldn’t go any further.”
Alison died over the weekend, the same day her and Mariah’s mom, Patricia Carey, died at age 87.

The “Obsessed” singer, 55, confirmed their deaths Monday, saying her “heart [was] broken” by the tragedies.
“I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” the Grammy winner said in a statement. “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Mariah added. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
Mariah detailed her relationship with Patricia, who was also the mother of 64-year-old son Morgan Carey, in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”
Although their connection was “a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment,” the songwriter dedicated the book to her mother.
“I will love you the best I can, always,” she wrote to the former opera singer after telling readers that Patricia “did the best she could.”
Mariah did not, however, have a relationship with either of her siblings at the time — and Alison and Morgan later sued her for “intentional infliction of emotional distress” and defamation over her memoir.
Alison detailed her health struggles in her lawsuit, claiming she had started abusing alcohol again after being sober “for a long time.”
She stated in court docs that she was battling spine and digestive disorders, a traumatic brain injury, short-term memory problems and vision problems after a 2015 home invasion.
While it is unclear whether Alison’s case was resolved, Morgan’s remains active, according to “Today.”
Their dad, Alfred Roy Carey, died from cancer in 2002 at age 72.
Mariah honored him on Father’s Day in 2023 via Instagram, also telling her followers the previous year that she had “lovingly restored” his old car.
