Lady Gaga to Replace Beyonce at Coachella
Lady Gaga will headline Coachella in place of Beyoncé. The pop star confirmed her appearance with an Instagram post featuring a revised poster for the festival and the note, “Let’s party in the desert!”
Beyoncé, who is pregnant with twins, decided to pull out of the festival “following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months.” However, she plans to headline Coachella in 2018.
Gaga will fill in for Beyoncé on April 15th and 22nd at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. According to Billboard, Coachella organizers were adamant that a female performer replace Beyoncé. Gaga will now be the first woman to headline the festival since Björk in 2007. Her fellow headliners include Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar.
Gaga released her latest album, Joanne, last October and recently performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. She’s set to embark on a massive arena and stadium tour in support of Joanne August 1st at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
As for Beyoncé, the pop star announced that she and husband Jay Z were pregnant with twins February 1st. Weeks later, she appeared at the Grammys, where she performed two songs from Lemonade and took home two awards, Best Music Video for “Formation” and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
