Fans think Camila Cabello shaded Sabrina Carpenter amid resurfaced Shawn Mendes love triangle rumors: ‘So messy’
Fans are convinced that Camila Cabello shaded Sabrina Carpenter after rumors of a love triangle with Shawn Mendes started resurfacing this week.
The “Havana” singer shared a TikTok selfie video of her lip-syncing the words to her song, “June Gloom” –– which fans think Cabello wrote about Carpenter having a rumored fling with the former’s on-again, off-again boyfriend of five years.
“She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures / We’re a house fire, for sure / Hope it’ll burn out, but it just gets bigger / If she’s so amazing, why are you on this side of town? If you like her so much, what are you here trying to find out?” she mouthed.
Cabello, 27, cryptically captioned the video on Monday, “hope it’ll burn out but it just gets bigger 🙄.”
The former Fifth Harmony member wore a black lace top. She also sported a glam makeup look while she kept her blond hair down and teased.
The video quickly spent fans into a tailspin as they left comments about the alleged “messy” love triangle.

“Posting this now is so messy,” one user wrote under the video.
“i cannot take my favs being in a love triangle again please can we just blame the man,” someone else pointed out.
“The song is messy . Her posting this is amazing,” another person raved.
“promoting this song with the blonde hair is a whole other level & im here for it,” someone else wrote.
“This is INSANE timing and honestly…. I support it fully. Like okay fine I’d do the same 😭,” another user added.
Many fans also pointed out the resemblance of the two women after Cabello went blond and got bangs –– like Carpenter’s signature look –– but Cabello has rocked the hairstyle since February.
Cabello posted the video after Carpenter, 25, released her new album, “Short n’ Sweet,” which features a few songs that fans think are about Mendes, 26.
Carpenter’s album starts with the song “Taste,” where she sings about a mystery man not being able to decide between his ex-girlfriend and someone new.
“I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you / If you want forever, I bet you do / Just know you’ll taste me too,” Carpenter sings.
The “Espresso” songstress also seemed to allude to the alleged love triangle in her song “Coincidence.”
“What a surprise, your phone just died / Your car drove itself from LA to her thighs / Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s by your side? Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew / Least that’s what you said / What a coincidence,” she sings.
Fans theorized the song is about Mendes and Cabello, because they were seen packing on the PDA at Coachella –– which famously takes place in Palm Springs –– in April 2023. Mendes and Carpenter were seen hanging out just one month before the music festival.
Mendes and Cabello first confirmed their relationship with their steamy “Señorita” music video in 2019. They dated for two years before calling it quits in November 2021.
While they continued to be seen together periodically over the next few years, they didn’t officially get back together.
In the midst of their on-again, off-again relationship, Mendes sparked romance rumors with Carpenter when they were seen hanging out and leaving two A-list after-parties together in February and March 2023.
Mendes insisted that they were “not dating” and was instead seen making out and holding hands with Cabello just one month later.
Rumors of a love triangle reignited this week when MTV announced that Mendes was added to the slate of singers –– in addition to already announced performances by Cabello and Carpenter –– for the upcoming 2024 Video Music Awards.
Meanwhile, Mendes has yet to allude to any of the alleged drama in social media posts.
